Use Passwordless DB Connections (Integrated Security)

Modified on Thu, 27 Feb at 1:15 PM

Since five(9)s Console 5.0, our software supports the use of a database connection using Windows Authentication instead of a password. (This is commonly called "Integrated Security".)

This is the recommended configuration option. It aligns with modern security standards and avoids having to store passwords.

Prerequisites:

  • five(9)s Console 5.0 or higher
  • The configured domain user account (Admin → EPM Server & Database → EPM Admin User) needs the required DB permissions (See our Prerequisites article 1.4. for the exact permissions)

Enable Integrated Security for the EPM Database:

To configure Integrated Security, go to Admin → EPM Server & Database and click on Open db configuration site.

This will open a page for configuring the database. Enable the "Integrated Security" checkbox and then click Save. It will verify the connection and save it if a connection can be made.

Enable Integrated Security for Central Search:

The Central Search database has a separate configuration page.

Go to Admin → Central Search. Enable the "Integrated Security" checkbox and click Save. It will verify the connection and save it if a connection can be made.
